MY DAD LOVES THIS PLACE!!

My dad loves this place, for the whole reason that was detailed in the above reveiw, the unmatching furniture the class greasy spoon stuff.... but he thinks its proper englishmans grubb as he says!!!!i must admit though he is right, they do some gorgous stuff my favourite is their roast dinners and their apple pie and custard.....really nice, it reminds me of what my nan used to make.Its just normal nice homemade mummy's style food!!! my dad says there bacon and egg sandwiches are really nice...to me once you've tasted one bacon and egg sandwich they are all the same, but not according to him they have the right runny...ness.... if thats a word!!! haha!!!

Classic Greasy Spoon

The Sportsman is pretty much what you'd expect from a greasy spoon cafe - decent food and lots of it. Fried breakfasts are good, roast dinners are great, home made puddings are brilliant. I especially like their shepherds pie and toad in the hole.None of the furniture matches, and it's sometimes hard to get a table if you turn up at a busy period, but it's well worth a visit.
