  • 4 Thank god for Pearsons!

Pearsons is a welcome addition to Whitstable to bring a classy upbeat hue to the generally local traditional (and often sleepy) pubs in town. It's both chilled and lively at the same time. Located handily right next to the beach and high street, it's a great place to hang out day or night. Lovely friendly atmosphere/staff, good funky background music, comfy lounging on sofas, twinkly lights, good ales/wines/coffee, nice loos. My only complaint (I'm afraid, hence not 5*s) is the expensive food and cocktails! It's a bit gastro "small and overpriced" for my pocket, eg fish and chips = "cheek" of fish with 4 chips in a nice little posh newspaper cone. I mean, how much does a potato cost for god's sake!!! Most irritating. And they'd do much better if the cocktails were more reasonable too - not a chance of them donning my thrifty Northern lips!

The previous critic is obviously accustomed to inferior establishments i have eaten, socialised and partied at Pearson's Arms many times the food is varied and fabulous, the staff are courteous and informative, the decor is a much needed boost to Whitstable others would do well to follow suit, it has a vibrant and well cultured clientel with its over 21 door policy there are none of your usual crowd of adolescents, i am prepared to pay a little extra for the added comforts the Pearson's Arms offers. i would thoroughly recommend it to all.

  • 3 Whitstables trendy bar

Pearsons was the first restaurant I ever ate in over 8 years ago. Back then, it was a very simple and typically english boozer that happened to have an excellent restuarant.Well, times move on and the pub and food deteriorated. However, recently it has been given a make over and it now looks very contemporary indeed, and you would forgive yourself for thinking you were in some swanky clapham bar not CT5. Anyway, the pub itself is ok. Good selection of drinks and something a little different from what you normally get in Whitstable. However, it is pricey and the service was not all that great and I had to wait a lot longer than I would have liked (and this was a not so busy Thursday). The food is also getting back to where it should be, and whilst again it was a little pricey, it was on the whole worth it.I would probably only come here for special occasions or for a change of scenery.
