Integrity, what's that?

We went to this jeweller a few weeks ago and saw a wedding ring that we liked. He said that he had held the ring for 2 years and that if it fitted and we wanted it that he would let us have it a really good price - 33% off of the marked price. We said that we would like to think about it and he said ok. When we returned to the shop about 3 weeks later he told us a completely different story. he said that this was one of his most popular designs and that due to the "rise in the price of gold" that he could no longer let us have it at the price quoted. Now I know that he is within his rights to withdraw the item from sale but he didn't even bother to quote us a new price for the ring even taking the "rise of the price of gold" into account. Had he told us in the first place that his offer was time limited we would have responded accordingly. Beware of jewellers that act like used car salesmen.
