Lakeland finished and competition piece due to start.

LAKELAND Part 1 : Borrowdale is now filmed and edited and is offered to TV and cable networks to commission. There is a short ad. on YouTube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jHzneO0ohM which gives a glimpse of the piece and the HD capability of our new Canon XL H1A camera. The camera worked superbly and we discovered it can do a lot more than the handbook says, coping with the light and conditions found in a mountainous area famed for it's rapidly changing environment.We have not used a 'known' presenter at this stage, but 'borrowed' a local academic, as we did not want to impress any particular format on the piece. We thought it preferable to allow the commissioning agency to choose their own style of presenter, and the piece is now ready to offer. As we know the area intimately and all the shots and storyboards are already in place, with the addition of the presenter of choice, work can go ahead at speed. There are a number of quotes used in the making of the piece. Permission was granted for their use by the owner and his publisher and on sending a copy of the programme to them to show how we had used their kind contribution, we have received very favourable comments in return. Primary production starts in the middle of November, on a short sci-fi film for entry into a number of competitions We have been able to secure the talents of two locally based actors, something we prefer to do if possible as this area has a wealth of talented people.While both our stars are experienced, with the close proximity of the educational facilities at University College Folkestone, University of Kent, Canterbury Christchurch University and South Kent College, to name but a few, there is also a wealth of up and coming talent to tap.The location is superb, as we are using the Swan Street Barn in Ashford as our primary set and will run a 'feed' to both our web site, http://www.sorceressproductions.com and YouTube while filming takes place. As well as allowing prospective clients to see our working practices we hope this will encourage other film makers to use the talent of both our local people and our diverse landscape in their own projects. It will also allow viewers to get a hint of the definitely unglamourous hassle and stress of filming even a short piece. I am currently going cross-eyed trying to get the storyboard up to the level demanded by our perfectionist of a cinematographer.Mike Harvey will be on set to gather the impressions of the characters and the area that will allow him to produce the theme and soundtrack for the finished project. It was his exemplary musical talent that produced such a spine tinglingly atmospheric soundtrack for Lakeland.
