• Cullins Yard Ltd Fantastic meal in really warm atmosphere

  My partner and I were looking for seafood in Dover and were recommended Cullin's Yard by the owner the Maison Dieu Guest House. Since I worked in the service industry in the U.S., I have become accustomed to medicore service in the U.K. Instead, we were greeted by a really pleasant and attentive waitress who answered all of our questions gamely and was patient. The food was excellent and so so fresh, as to be expected in a port, with tender monkish is a smooth and creamy curry sauce. My husband's smoked mackeral (I think) was also very good. We had the excellent brie appetizer and were served fresh bread and butter and marinated olives when we sat down. The best of the evening, however, was Mike, the owner, who does what few restauranteurs do here: he asked us how we were doing and where we were from and seemed genuinely proud of his establishment. He even brought over a better candle that we were eyeing from another table. Great fun... but you have to ask for Mike when you go. This is the kind of place you can relax and be yourself. Only points off were for the couple snogging at the next table. Yuck! <P>
