Italian restaurant
Giovanni's has changed little in the fifteen odd years I have semi-regularly eaten there and in many ways this is a good thing. This is real old school french/italian. From the decor to the jovial service and cream-laden sweet trolley. There is an enourmous amount of choice in both the a la carte menu and the daily specials, and they are more than happy to accomodate any special requests. Portion size is also enourmous. While you'll certainly appreciate the value for money this offers, you might not appreciate the waiter spooning on more veg after you've said 'stop' or 'slipping' with the cream on your sweet. The staff are generally friendly and competent. The only exception is manager Peter, who is a real master of his craft. Love it or hate it (and I love it) he plays the cheerful Italian restauranteur to a tee. Overall a good experience. While maybe not for everyone, it's worth a try.
